This afternoon we had the privilege of visiting a walnut farm! There's a family in our church that own and operate a walnut orchard and Mr. Stone invited us to come and visit. So we packed the kids in the car and took a drive out there.

They were excited to see the trucks and machines. Mr. Stone let them both take turns helping shake a walnut tree. Boy, did they LOVE that! Here's Alia in the shaker.

And here's Elijah in the shaker. This machine grabs ahold of each tree trunk and literally shakes the nuts off the tree. We could feel the ground shaking from where we were standing. It was pretty cool.

I thought this picture was kind of fun. This is what you see when the shaking starts. Walnuts fall from all over! It's raining walnut!!

The ground was full of walnuts. It seemed like they were pretty grateful for the crop (is that what you call it?) of walnuts they've gotten this year. There sure seemed like a lot of walnuts to me.
We had a fun time learning about walnuts. And they even let us come home with a plastic bag full of walnuts! We have to let them dry out a bit...and then it's off to baking for me! Alia seems to believe I am going to make brownies with them :) Make sure to watch the video below of Alia shaking a tree.
Thanks so much Mr. Stone!!!
