Here's the official recipe/instructions for making Cookie Bark. I first made Leigh Anne's, from Your Homebased Mom, candy corn cookie bark last fall. That recipe used candy corn (as do a lot of her cookie barks) but in the batch I made below I swapped m&ms in for the candy corn. I didn't have matching candy corn. :)
You need about 12-16 oreo cookies. Cut them up into quarters (or smaller) and place into a bowl. Then take about 2-3 cups of broken pretzels and dump those in the bowl, too. I also chop up some m&ms and dump those in the bowl, too. Then mix it all up!! At this point I don't measure things anymore...I just try to make sure I have a bit more pretzels then cookie pieces.
Using a cookie sheet that has been covered in parchment paper, pour the cookie/pretzel mixture evenly onto the surface. Spread out the mixture so it is in one layer-not piles.
The next step is melting your candy melts. I purchase my candy melts from Winco in the bulk section. You can also purchase packages of candy melts at Joanns or Michael's. You need about 1 pound. Melt them in the microwave, following the directions. Be careful not to overcook them. you will end up with a big glop if you do.
