Sunflowers!

This summer Jason and the kids planted some sunflower seeds. We've done this in past summers...with no success. But this year we had success!! We had about 6 or 7 sunflowers that TOOK OFF!! Today Jason cut some of the flowers off so the kids could "harvest the seeds". :)
Look how big these things are! Huge! What makes it even better is that Alia is studying and writing about sunflowers! Perfect! She was sharing all of her knowledge as she picked the seeds out. I might send one of the flowers to school with her tomorrow...perhaps her teacher might use it!

Hard work...picking the seeds out.

This is a picture of the flower they were harvesting...in mid pick. ;) It took them a while, but they did get all of the seeds out! Now we have about 5 other flowers to harvest.

Ta da!!! Some of the seeds!
